A strong cold front will impact western Montana late Thursday and Friday and bring significant changes to the weather.
Warm in advance of the front through Thursday. A few evening showers and thundershowers Wednesday evening across southwest Montana, around Butte and Bozeman. Those will end early. Skies will be partly cloudy. Lows in the 50s.
As the front nears on Thursday, a few strong storms may develop after 3 pm, especially from just east of Missoula and Kalispell east to the continental divide. The storms may contain small hail, gusty winds, frequent lightning and brief heavy rain.
The front will have moved through the entire area by late Thursday night and Friday More showers and thundershowers will be possible.
Showers and much cooler this weekend through Tuesday of next week.
Highs will be in the 80s Thursday, fall to the mid 60s to mid 70s Friday. Highs will remain below normal in the upper 50s and 60s this weekend through the middle of next week.
