First Alert 48 Hour Forecast

HIGH WIND WARNING for the Valleys. WINTER STORM WARNING for the Passes

A strong jet stream overhead will mix strong winds to the surface today. WSW winds will increase and become 25-40 mph with gusts in excess of 50 mph in some areas. Locations north of I-90 will see the strong winds early this morning. By noon, the threat of strong winds will shift to areas south of I-90. Light valley rain and heavy mountain snow is also expected today. Snowfall of 8 to 24 inches is expected at the passes along with strong winds, producing white out conditions.

Temperatures will be pretty mild today, but they will drop significantly this evening. A cold front will then lower snow levels back to the valley floors by late Wednesday. Accumulating snow is possible in some areas by Wednesday night, with generally one to four inches possible.

Snow is possible again by the weekend with colder air invading western Montana.
