Snow and rain target southwest Montana

A storm system to the south of Montana is bringing valley rain and mountain snow to southwest and parts of west central Montana.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is posted through Friday morning for Monida, Rogers, MacDonald, Homestake, Chief Joseph, Raynolds, Big Hole and Targhee Passes along with the West Yellowstone and Georgetown Lake areas.  Additional snowfall of 2 to 5 inches will be possible.

Valley rain will be likely from the southern Bitterroot Valley east to the Butte and Bozeman.  Butte may see a mix of rain and snow.  Only a chance for a few showers around Missoula with Kalispell and northwest Montana pretty much missing this storm.  Lows Thursday night in the low to mid 30s.

The rain and snow will be ending Friday across southwest Montana.  There may be some sunshine with the clouds in the Kalispell area.  Highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s.

Partly cloudy Saturday and Sunday with a nice break from the rain and snow.  Highs will be in the upper 40s to lower 50s.

Another storm system will bring more rain and snow to the area Sunday night and Monday.
