Weather News

Weekend brings more showery weather, chance for accumulating snow

We will continue to see periodic snowfall across southwest Montana for the rest of the evening and into Saturday morning. Some areas could see up to an inch of accumulation, but most areas will only have a chance for a dusting.

Northwest winds will bring in colder air and drop temperatures into the teens and single digits above zero early Saturday morning. Light and scattered snow showers will be possible in the afternoon, especially north of I-90. Highs will be in the 20s in southwest Montana to right around freezing in the lower elevation western valleys.

After another chilly night in the teens snow activity will be increasing Sunday. More substantial moisture will drop out of Canada and into northwest Montana Sunday night. This will produce accumulating snow that will move from north to south Sunday night and on Monday. Accumulations across the region are expected to be minor, between 1 and 4 inches in the valleys and up to 6 inches over area mountain passes. Expect winter driving conditions Sunday night and Monday morning.

A showery pattern will continue for most of the week with off-and-on snowfall for all of our cities. Temperatures will continue to be cooler than in recent weeks with lows from the mid teens to near zero and highs in the mid 20s to low 30s. Expect warmer weather at the end of the week with lows in the 20s and highs in the upper 30s and low 40s.
