Weather News

Windy weather today, changes this weekend

Windy weather will continue around the Flathead with gusts over 20 mph through the morning. This will keep temperatures in the valley mild this morning and allow for choppy conditions on Flathead Lake this morning. Breezy conditions with winds up to 15 mph will happen elsewhere. Expect winds to diminish as we head into the evening. Temperatures will be a touch cooler today because of cooler air in central Montana. Highs will reach the mid 70s with a few areas near the Idaho state line still hitting 80 degrees.

A few clouds enter the picture Thursday and especially Friday in advance of a storm system with a moist southwest flow. There will be a slight chance of showers each afternoon and evening, mainly south of Butte and Bozeman near the Idaho border. Even a few lightning strikes are possible Thursday and Friday.

The storm system will move over the northern Rockies this weekend, bringing much cooler air to the region along with a chance of showers. Highs will drop to the 60s Saturday and the 50s Sunday. The best chance of rain looks to be Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Next week looks to be unsettled with scattered showers, but computer models are being very inconsistent. This means we are in " wait and see mode" for anything after Monday, but it certainly will be a lot cooler than what we're experiencing now.
