Strong Pacific storm to impact Montana

A storm system will develop and impact western Montana the rest of this week.

A few showers are possible Tuesday night across northwest Montana around Kalispell.  Otherwise, it will be mostly dry.  Partly to mostly cloudy with lows in the upper 20s in Bozeman and Butte to the mid 30s in Missoula and Kalispell.

Widespread rain and high elevation snow will develop Monday west of the divide, especially north of Missoula north through Kalispell and to the Canadian border.  This will continue tomorrow night and Thursday.  During this time frame, Butte and Bozeman will begin seeing widespread rain and mountain snow.

Snow levels will be fairly high.  They will be 5000 feet up in Glacier Park, 6000 feet across southwest Montana around Bozeman and 6500 feet in the mountains around Missoula.  The passes that will see the possibility of some accumulating will be Lost Trail and Monida where one to three inches will be possible tomorrow and tomorrow night.

Snow levels may drop by Thursday and Thursday night.  Accumulating snow is possible at Lost Trail and Homestake Passes.

Rainfall will range from .25" to .50" across southwest Montana and .50" to 1.50" in the Bitterroot mountains.  Models suggest  up to .70" in Missoula, .43" in Butte, .35" in Bozeman and .29" in Kalispell.  Most of this will occur Wednesday night and Thursday.

The precipitation ends early Friday and then we can enjoy a nice weekend.  Some sunshine and highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s.
