Weather News

Warming up into Memorial Day

Light rain will fall around Monida Pass, the Centennial Valley, and Yellowstone this evening before a storm to our south moves out of the area Friday night. Elsewhere, a few isolated showers with evening temperatures in the 50s and 60s. Overnight lows will drop into the upper 30s to mid 40s.

A calmer and drier weather pattern will establish itself over western Montana this holiday weekend.  We'll have clear to partly cloudy skies through Monday. A few isolated showers are possible Saturday and Sunday, but Memorial Day itself should be clear and calm.  Highs will be in the upper 60s to upper 70s Saturday rising to the mid 70s to low 80s Sunday and upper 70s to mid 80s Monday. Lows will rise from the upper 30s and low 40s to the mid 40s.

The warm pattern continues Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the 80s and a slight chance of a shower late Wednesday.

Thursday and Friday appear to be a good setup for scattered thunderstorms at this point. Temperatures will be slightly cooler as a result of clouds and possible rain.

Make sure to add sunscreen to your routine if you area out on this long weekend. UV index values will be at high, which means sunburn becomes a risk after 30 minutes outdoors. Rivers will be running fast and full this weekend and they will be quite chilly as much of the larger flow will be from melting snow. Several rivers may reach flood stage again late next week as the warm weather continues.
