Weather News

More rounds of snow Sunday and Monday

Scattered snow will continue overnight, mainly in northwest Montana. Expect little as far as snow accumulations. Slushy roads will again freeze up overnight with fog forming in western valleys. Overnight lows will be in the teens with a few areas in the single digits.

Sunday will start out partly to mostly cloudy and dry, but conditions will deteriorate in the afternoon. Expect snowfall in the region by the evening with the heaviest snow likely around Missoula and Kalispell. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through Monday morning for northwest Montana south to the Lookout Pass area for 1 to 4 inches of snow. Most areas will see 1 to 3 inches west of the divide.

The pacific storm that's been sending waves of snow in our direction will finally move inland on Monday. Snow from the heart of this storm  will move up from the south into southwest Montana, Salmon, and possibly the southern Bitterroot Valley on Monday. Depending on the track of the system heavy snow is a possibility for the morning and evening drives in these areas. Butte and Bozeman are on track for around 2 to 4 inches of accumulation by the end of Monday. Should the storm take a northerly track the snow amounts will be on the higher end, but a track to the south would put snowfall on the low end of these ranges. Either way, travel into Wyoming and Idaho will be impacted where Winter Storm Watches are now in effect.

Sunshine and below average temperatures are on tap for us after lingering snow showers clear up on Tuesday. Expect lows in the single digits and highs in the 20s with mostly clear skies into next weekend.
