Weather News

Accumulating snow on the way

We are tracking the threat of accumulating snow tonight through the weekend.

A strong surge of Pacific moisture will move into western Montana Thursday night and Friday. Snow will overspread the region with accumulations likely, especially from Missoula south and east to Butte and Bozeman. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is posted for southwest Montana, including the Bozeman, Ennis, Dillon, West Yellowstone, Boulder and Townsend areas One to three inches of snow are possible here. We are also expecting one to three inches around Missoula and Butte.

A WINTER STORM WATCH is posted Thursday night through Saturday for Lolo, Lookout and Lost Trail Passes where one to two feet of snow are possible.

More surges of moisture will over run cold air at the surface Saturday through Monday. It appears the best chance for more accumulating snow will be across west central Montana around Missoula and surrounding mountains, but all areas can expect more snow. Another 3 to 6 inches will be possible through the weekend.

Highs will be in the 10s Thursday and the upper 10s and 20s Friday, warming further to the 20s to around 30 this weekend.
