MISSOULA, Mont. -

On the softball diamonds this weekend, Missoula will be busy with Senior Little League action. The Western Regional tournament starts up tomorrow morning in Missoula.

Squads competing will include teams from  Washington, Oregon, Northern California, Southern California, Arizona and Hawaii. From within the Treasure State borders, team Montana is comprised of athletes from Billings while the host-team Zootown out of Missoula received an automatic berth.

Missoula Hellgate sophomore Adessa Gagner said she thinks her Zootown squad can compete for this weekend's regional title. "We have just great athletes all the way around so our talent is there for sure. So I guess we've got nothing to lose at this point, and I think we could do really well and make it all the way to Delaware. There is a lot at stake, we have a big opportunity to make it there and if we do that would be great."

This tournament is for players age 14 through 16 and the winner will advance to play in the Senior League World Series taking place in Delaware the first week of August.

"It's exciting. Our goal is to make it to Delaware," said Missoula Big Sky junior Macey Newbary. "That's a highly recruited thing and it would be fun to go with the group of girls we have."

"Well, it's super important because of the exposure that we gain from this. If we do make it to Delaware, some of those games end up on ESPN and to get that level of exposure is definitely a very good asset," said Florence senior Holly Hale.

This is the ninth year Montana has hosted this tournament. Games will be at the Dale Clawson Complex and begin Friday, July 25th at  9:00 AM. Round robin format play will take place through Monday.  Then on Tuesday the top four teams will battle it out in the semifinals with the tournament title game slated for 6:00 PM.
