MISSOULA, Mont. -

The University of Montana golf team hosted a tournament in Missoula for the first time since 1997, and things went extremely well for the Grizzly golf squad at their inaugural Sun Mountain Grizzly Invitational.

The Griz team took first place by a landslide, and now Montana junior Tara Green is being honored for her individual efforts as the Big Sky Conference golfer of the week.

Green shot a one-under par of 212 to win by four shots, earning herself a 2nd career collegiate medalist honor.

Green opened with a 74 in Monday’s 1st round at the Missoula Country Club. She followed that with a 3-under par 68 in round #2, and then fired off a score of 70 in Tuesday’s final round.

Green was the leader in helping Montana set a new program record for the best three round score; The Grizzlies finished with a 54-hole total of 878, that’s 25 strokes better than the previous program record.

This is Green's second career Golfer of the Week honor.
