MISSOULA, Mont. -

Montana head men's basketball coach Wayne Tinkle will be announced as the new Oregon State men's head coach Monday, according to John Canzano, a sports columnist at The Oregonian newspaper.

Tinkle has been a coach at Montana for 13 years.  He was hired as a men's assistant in 2001, and took over head coaching duties in 2006.

Tinkle, who just completed his eighth season at Montana as the head basketball coach, has a career record of 158-91.  This past season Tinkle moved up to second on the school's all-time coaching wins list.

In the past five seasons Tinkle has taken the Griz to the NCAA Tournament three times, including back-to-back appearances in 2012 and 2013.  Over that five-year span the Grizzlies have an overall record of 110-47, and a Big Sky Conference record of 68-20 in regular-season games.

Oregon State recently fired head coach Craig Robinson at the beginning of May after six years with the team.  During his time as the head coach of the Beavers, Robinson never reached the NCAA Tournament and only had one season with a winning record.

"Oregon State is expected to formally introduce Tinkle on Monday."
