UM's Tripp and Coyle added to CFPA watch list

The Griz football team still has two and a half months until their season opener against Appalachian State, but the excitement for the upcoming season continues to build.

Today two more Grizzly defensive players were selected to the College Football Performance Awards watch list.

And there's no surprise to hear the names Jordan Tripp and Brock Coyle for this one, as they've been included in a 35 player list of linebackers to watch this season in college football.

"I mean you know it's always nice to get some recognition like that," said Coyle. "It's just honestly... just more motivation for the season."

Both players are seniors, both players are captains, both players are Montana natives... and both players are really good.

Brock Coyle started in all 11 Griz games last year. The Bozeman native led the team with 107 tackles on the season which ranked him top-30 in the country in tackles per game.

Missoula native Jordan Tripp will be a starter on defense for the 4th year in a row. He's already ranked 24th in school history with over 230 career tackles.

Tripp and Coyle join junior defensive lineman Zack Wagenmann on the CFPA defensive watch list.  That trio of players will lead the way for a defense that looks to be the cream of the crop in the Big Sky conference this coming fall.

"It's nice to see Zack Wagenmann on there plus my teammate Jordan Tripp and myself," said Coyle.  "And honestly it's just motivation for the start of the season. We all mesh really well and we're a group of seniors that we're just hungry and ready for the season."
