BOZEMAN, Mont. - The Big Sky Conference announced its football All-Conference selections and individual award winners on Tuesday.
For the second season in a row, a player from Montana State University is the Big Sky's Freshman of the Year.
Troy Andersen, who plays both running back and linebacker for the Bobcats, has won the award.
MSU sophomore quarterback Chris Murray was last year’s Freshman of the Year.
Andersen gained 515 rushing yards this season, the most among freshmen in the Big Sky Conference, and scored five rushing touchdowns.
The Dillon, Montana, native capped off his season with a great performance against the rival Montana Grizzlies, rushing for 64 yards and two touchdowns.
He also caught seven passes for 45 yards and another touchdown, while recording nine tackles and a sack on defense and special teams.
Andersen is also a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award, which is presented by STATS Inc. to the top freshman in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision.
