MISSOULA, Mont. - Out on the track one Sentinel athlete is continuing to sprint his way into the record books.
Spartan senior Jake Messerly is having an impressive season on the track as he currently ranks in the top in the treasure state for both the 100 and 200 meters.
Messerly now owns the school records for both the 200-meters as well as the 100 meters which he set last spring with a time of 10.85 seconds, he says it's definitely been a goal to own both those school records.
"It feels good, after getting the 100 record here I knew that the next thing I had to do was get that two so everything just felt really good and things just fell into place. It's a goal but it's not the main thing on my list, the main thing is to win state this year but I know that I have some fierce competitors out there" said Messerly.
This spring Messerly is the only athlete in the state to record a 200-meters time under 22 seconds, he clocked in at 21.97 seconds, that also happens to be the best time ever recorded by a sprinter for Sentinel high school.
