The Bozeman Hawks have been the most dominant team in 'AA' football this season, going 9-0 but had their eyes set on revenge Friday night. The Hawks squared off against the team they fell to in last years championship game, the Butte Bulldogs.
Bozeman was missing senior running back Hunter Gappmayer but his replacement sophomore Balue Chapman seamlessly filled in, scoring three touchdowns in the first half against the Bulldogs.
The Hawks got off to a hot start on Friday. The Bulldogs went 3 and out on their first possession. Butte went to punt but it was blocked by junior Appel Cordell and he returned it for the first touchdown of the game.
Bozeman would go on a 19-0 run to end the first quarter and it looked to be over for the Bulldogs.
However the Butte offense began to rally behind their senior quarterback. Dallas Cook kicked off the 2nd quarter with a 12 yard touchdown pass to Paul Campbell to pull the Bulldogs within 12.
But just like they have all season the Hawks responded immediately following an opposing scoring drive. Weyer drove the Hawks down to the 2 yard line where Chapman dove in for his third touchdown of the game.
The Hawks took off from their to blow out Butte at home, 61-20 the final. The Hawks finish the regular season 10-0 while the Bulldogs record stands at 6-4.
The last time Bozeman went undefeated in the regular season was back in 2010. They went on to win the next three games to bring home the state championship. We'll have to see if anyone can stop this incredible Hawks team.
