Griz players, coaches sweep up Big Sky tennis honors


The Griz made history last Sunday when the men's tennis team won their first ever Big Sky title. Thursday, the Big Sky Conference announced their All-Conference  teams and the Big Sky gave the Griz an MVP sweep.

Montana's Andrew Warren was named the Big Sky men's MVP, along with being named to the All-Conference 1st team. Teammate Semion Branzburg was also named to the First team.

Niklas Brandes was the lone male Bobcat named to the 1st team.

The Griz women also headlining the All-Conference teams, with three women selected. Haley Driver, Ashley Mackey and Sasha Carter all named to the 1st team with Driver being named the Big Sky Women's MVP.

Bobcat Paulina Lopez was the highest recognized woman for Montana State, being named to the 2nd team.

The Grizzlies also swept up coaching honors as Steve Ascher (Montana women's coach) and Kris Nord (Montana men's coach) took home Big Sky coach of the year honors.

The Griz men's team will head to Oklahoma May 10th, where they will face Oklahoma in the NCAA tournament.
