MISSOULA, Mont. - The Grizzlies led the entire contest but the game was far from comfortable for Montana until the waning moments of action Friday night inside Dahlberg Arena.
UM-Western played with the Grizzlies much of the night and trailed by only four points (41-37) during the intermission.
In the second half the Grizzlies were eventually able to put down the Bulldogs with Kareem Jamar's game-high 24 points leading the way. Montana had three other players hit double figures in the contest: Keron DeShields (17), Jordan Gregory (16) and Mike Weisner (14).
Western also had four players hit double figures led by Jordan Overstreet's team-high 19 points.
The game was full of whistles with 51 total fouls being called and 31 of those going against UMW. The Grizzlies converted 32-of-42 (76.2%) from the line, while the Bulldogs were 17-of-24 (70.8%).
Red-shirt freshman guard Riley Bradshaw made his season debut for the Grizzlies. The Corvallis, Montana native played 11 minutes and went 0-for-1 from the floor while getting called for two personal fouls. It was Bradshaw's first college game after transferring from Utah State and sitting out the past year of action.
With their third straight win the Grizzlies have evened their season record to 4-4. It was an exhibition game for the Bulldogs, who remain at 6-4.
