MISSOULA, Mont. - Bozeman native Brock Coyle returned to his hometown with a vengeance on Saturday; his defensive effort in the Grizzlies' 28-14 win over Montana State has earned him the final ROOT SPORTS defensive player of the week honor for this season.
Coyle was everywhere in Bobcat Stadium on Saturday afternoon, the defensive captain recorded 14 tackles, forced two fumbles, recorded one sack and two tackles for loss.
Coyle's defensive leadership helped the Grizzlies limit the Bobcats to just 272 yards of total offense in the game.
For Coyle returning to his hometown for his final regular season game, things couldn't have gone better.
"Growing up my whole goal in life was to play college football. I knew I wanted to be a Grizzly and to come down here…I've never lost in Bozeman," said Coyle after the game on Saturday. "And I just couldn't be more proud of these guys, I mean we're just such a close team. I'm just so proud of the way that we've overcome so much adversity and we came out on top, it means everything to me and I know it means everything to the guys, so it's great."
