MISSOULA, Mont. -

Several Lady Griz players were honored by the Big Sky Conference’s yearly award announcements on Monday and junior Carly Selvig was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year.

Selvig recorded 56 blocked shots during Big Sky play this year which was 17 more than any other player in the league.  The junior forward’s season average of 2.76 blocks per game ranks 17th in the nation.

The Glendive, Montana native’s dominance down low was a big factor in the Lady Griz allowing just 64 points per game during conference play, which was the second best mark in the Big Sky.

Other Montana players honored on Monday included Kellie Cole (1st team All-Big Sky), Jordan Sullivan (2nd team All-Big Sky) and Torry Hill (honorable mention).

North Dakota’s Madi Buck was named MVP of the Big Sky Conference.
