Rocky Mountain PGA Championships conclude in Bozeman
With the Miner-Paradise fires burning in the distance, the field for the Rocky Mountain PGA section headed out onto the Black Bull Club greens for the second and final day of the PGA Championships. The top three finishers would head to Boise, Idaho for the National Championships.
Jim Empey from Boise, Idaho was your leader heading into the day. He's already a two time Rocky Mountain PGA champion, so looking for a third. After shooting a club record -7 Monday, he secured his victory today shooting a -3 to take home the third title with a two day -10 score.
Preston Otte from Twin Falls, Idaho went into the day second overall, trailing Jim by just two strokes. He shot an -3 Tuesday, birdieing four holes on the back nine. That along with his -5 score Monday gave him a tournament -8 total to take home a second place finish in the finals.
There was a Montanan in the top of the group, as well. Tom Anderson from Laurel, Montana shot a -3 Monday to end the first day tied for third. He would shoot a -2 Tuesday to end the tournament -5, tied for 4th overall with two other competitors from Idaho.
