Just one day after Osprey catcher Jose Queliz was named the Pioneer League player of the week, another Osprey has been given an even bigger honor.

Tuesday the Arizona Diamondbacks announced that osprey shortstop Joe Munoz had earned player of the month for entire Diamondback organization in the month of July.

"My bat felt really good, that was probably what felt best out of everything,” said Munoz. “But I'm really glad the Diamondbacks chose me as player of the month."

Munoz’s numbers show quickly why he was chosen.  In July he played in 23 games and recorded a .360 batting average with 5 home runs and 25 runs batted in.

During that stretch Munoz has led Missoula in homers, RBIs, total bases and on-base percentage.

"Munoz was outstanding for the month of July,” said Missoula manager Robby Hammock of his star shortstop.  “You know that was a great showing, to win organizational player of the month for the Diamondbacks is an impressive feat.”
