MSU senior quarterback DeNarius McGhee injured
MSU senior quarterback DeNarius McGhee is out of action after suffering a shoulder injury against Southern Methodist University.
"DeNarius McGhee has been diagnosed with a shoulder seperation in his right shoulder," said MSU head coach Rob Ash.
McGhee separated his shoulder on the final play of the Bobcats game against SMU Saturday night. He will not play in this Saturday's game against Colorado Mesa and at least the rest of this month.
"He is going to be unable to play in the game this weekend and he'll be out for an undetermined amount of time," said Ash. "We expect him to be back at some point in the middle of the season."
McGhee had made forty consecutive starts for the Bobcats but that streak will end Saturday.
"He has been the leader of this team for forty games in a row," Ash said. "We have other great leaders but he has sort of been the face and personality of this program."
Sophomore quarterback Jake Bleskin will start in McGhee's place Saturday against Colorado Mesa in the Hall of Fame game.
"It's going to be very strange to be coaching without him and for his teammates to be playing out there without him. We have a very resilient and positive group of guys and I know they'll go out and do a great job."
