The University of Montana's mascot has been feeling the love from the Treasure State as he's jumped out to a 3-0 record in the annual Capital One Mascot of the Year Competition. In fact Monte enters this week's matchup against Rocky the Rocket (University of Toledo) ranked first in the mascot standings.
It is no surprise that Monte has been chosen for the Capital One Mascot of the Year Competition. This is the 6th time that Monte has made the cut and earned a spot on the mascot challenge team. Joining him on the team are fifteen other mascots from around the country. All of these mascots will compete to earn the title of National Mascot of the Year.
The competition consists of a 12 week regular season where each mascot will go head-to-head with another mascot. At the end of the week the mascot with the most votes wins that match up. After the 12 weeks is up the eight mascots with the best win-loss records will then be seeded into the playoffs. Of course Monte is no stranger to success in these competitions, he won the title of National Mascot of the Year in both 2002 and 2004.
There are three different ways you can vote for Monte to help him win this match up each type of voting is worth a different amount of voting points.
