The Miami Marlins activated right-hander Henderson Alvarez from the 15-day disabled list and will start Saturday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Alvarez, 24, missed two starts with shoulder inflammation.

In 22 starts this season, Alvarez is 8-5 with a 2.48 ERA, fifth in the National League. He also leads the majors with three shutouts.

Right-hander Brad Penny may give up his spot in the rotation Alvarez.
