Montana State senior Carley McCutchen would cap off Montana State's track season with a 20th place finish in the heptathlon at the NCAA outdoor track and field championships Friday.

McCutchen finished the first day of competition in 18th place, with only three events remaining on Friday.

The first event of the day would be the long jump. McCutchen would struggle against a tough field of competitors, finishing in 22nd place with a jump of 15 feet, 6.75 inches.

McCutchen would then take 15th place in the javelin and 17th in the final event of the day, the 800 meter run with a time of 2:25.55. That would give McCutchen 5,027 points, ending her time in Eugene with a 20th place finish in the heptathlon.

The highlight of McCutchen's performance in Eugene would be the high jump Thursday, where she set a new personal record by clearing of 5 feet, 7.75 inches.
