Kyle Clifford scored from a sharp angle only 2:27 into the Kings' 5-2 victory Saturday night over the San Jose Sharks at Staples Center. The Kings' enforcer later made a determined retreat into his own end of the rink to disrupt a scoring chance. Later still, Clifford fought well above his weight class by tangling with hulking Sharks defenseman Douglas Murray after Murray laid a tough check on the Kings' Anze Kopitar. Lastly, he jammed the puck past San Jose goaltender Antti Niemi, sending him to the bench. Kings coach Darryl Sutter said he liked Clifford's prolonged scrap with Murray best of all. "Momentum change," Sutter said.
