With the Masters starting on Thursday, golf season has finally arrived, even here in Montana.

And thanks to new simulation technology, Missoula-area golfers don't have to be out-of-practice when they step up to the tee.

That's because Golf USA in Missoula offers a state of the art simulator to keep the season alive and well year-round.

“Overall it's every bit as good as being out on an actual driving range,” said Golf USA owner Jason Schaefer. “And then as far as the golf and being able to play the golf, It's not quite real golf but it's a great way to stay in shape.”

The system contains a driving range and 18 different courses, including both St. Andrews and Pebble Beach.

“It's a great tool. One, it's fun just to be able to swing a golf club in January first and foremost. I mean when you're not use to playing golf, being able to come in and see a course like pebble beach or St. Andrews, it makes it a lot of fun.” said Golf Pro David Owens.

The technology can help seasoned veterans or first-time golfers.

“For me personally as a golf pro and teaching, there's a lot of great information that comes with every golf swing so if I'm giving a lesson in here, there's a lot more information that's readily available as soon as they make the golf swing that you don't always get with the naked eye,” said Owens.

The versatility of such simulators have made them increasingly popular, especially in cold-weather states.
