YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo -

Monday is the deadline for people to comment on the National Park Service's latest proposal on the use of snowmachines in Yellowstone National Park.

The public has been allowed 60 days to comment on the proposal, which was released in February.

The Park Service's winter management plan is based on limiting the collective noise and pollution of snowmobiles and snow coaches.

The agency's proposal would allow no more than 480 snowmobiles plus 60 multi-passenger snow coaches in a single day in Yellowstone. Snowmobiles and coaches would both be subject to lower emission and noise standards.

If the plan goes through, it will take effect in the 2014-15 winter season. Next winter's season would operate under the current limits of up to 318 snowmobiles and 78 snow coaches.
