Woman gets suspended sentence for fatal crash
A Kalispell woman has been given a 10-year suspended sentence for a crash that killed her boyfriend.
The Daily Inter Lake reports District Judge Ted Lympus recently sentenced 34-year-old Mindy Brist for felony criminal endangerment in the February 2012 death of Timothy Attard. She entered an Alford plea under which she denies wrongdoing but acknowledges prosecutors have enough evidence to gain a conviction. She was originally charged with felony negligent homicide.
Prosecutors say Brist and Attard had been out drinking and gambling and that Brist had taken a non-prescribed pain pill in the hours before the crash.
An investigation found Brist was driving 94 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone on U.S. 93 just south of Somers when she lost control of her sport utility vehicle on a curve.
