WHITEFISH, Mont. -

Police in Whitefish have issued a news release cautioning residents and visitors about the possibility of incapacitating drugs being placed in drinks.

Assistant Police Chief Mike Ferda tells the Missoulian (http://bit.ly/15GPDBm) the department issued the release Thursday after hearing what he calls "grumblings."

The department says both women and men say they believe they have been drugged.

The department says there are no active sexual assault cases in the town involving date-rape drugs, and no reports of robberies after possibly consuming spiked drinks.

But Ferda says there have been a handful of cases with females who said they felt far drunker than what they would expect with the amount of alcohol consumed. Some say they couldn't remember what happened.

Ferda says friends have helped the women get safely home.
