MISSOULA, Mont. -

Skiers will find six new runs off the north side of Whitefish Mountain Resort this winter.

Mangers updated NBC Montana today on the progress of a near $1.3 million expansion.

They say the new intermediate runs will be ready by opening day, expected in early December.

A new triple chairlift will carry skiers up to Flower Point, where they can ski off the north side of Big Mountain, enjoying views of the North Fork of the Flathead.

Mangers also say the north side provides great conditions that last from early to late season.

Up to 7,000 people can pack Whitefish Mountain Resort on the busiest days, so managers say the added acreage will give visitors more elbow room to enjoy the mountain.
