A tractor-trailer carrying ammonium nitrate overturned in northern Idaho, killing the driver and spilling 500 gallons of liquid fertilizer near Cocolalla.
Idaho State Police say the crash occurred about 1 p.m. on U.S. 95 when 62-year-old John M. Moody of Peck drifted off the roadway onto the right shoulder.
Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler tells the Bonner County Daily Bee ( that crews arrived to clean up diesel and ammonium nitrate that collected in a ditch.
Wheeler says a second tractor-trailer arrived to remove the remaining material from the overturned vehicle.
The highway remained closed about seven hours but no homes had to be evacuated.
