Thunderstorms threaten Miner Paradise Complex
The following is an update from the Gallatin Media Center:
North Eightmile Fire – This afternoon the fire spotted along the southern flank. The fire bumped down into a tributary of the N. Fork of Eightmile Creek. The fire is holding along the eastern edge directly west of the old Fridley Fire. Thunderstorms are currently developing over the fire area.
Horsetail Fire – the fire burned down into Flanders Creek to the west of the main body of the fire. The fire is most active along the southern flank today.
Sheep Fire – firefighters dropped retardant along the southwest flank of the fire which is currently putting a hold on any further fire spread in that direction. A spot fire occurred along the northwest edge of the fire this afternoon. Firefighters are currently constructing direct and indirect fireline along the east flank in Horse Creek.
Emigrant Fire – fire crews are installing direct and indirect line along the northern flank of the fire. Dozers are working to construct indirect line along the western flank of the fire. Along the southeast flank the fire has bumped into Monitor Creek which is south of Mineral Mountain.
