Stevensville gears up for Western Heritage Days
Look for crowds in Stevensville June 21 and 22. Montana's oldest permanent settlement is celebrating Western Heritage Days.
Look for barnyard games Friday night and a parade Saturday, plus wagon rides, Salish Dancers and Drummers, and a street dance Saturday night.
Cowboy cooks brought chuck wagons from Montana, Washington and Wyoming.
They're giving spectators a taste of what it might have been like on one of the cattle drives from Texas.
There's a cook off Saturday afternoon.
"We cook five courses," said cook Dan McCaffree. "We'll have meat, potatoes, beans bread and dessert."
It's a chance for people to learn an important part of western history, said McCaffree.
