It's not easy being green, as two puppies in Spain now know.

The pair were part of a litter of five pups born to a hunting dog breeder in the town of Laguna de Duero, The Local reported.

Three came out white as expected. The other two were a bright shade of green.

"I couldn’t believe it when I saw them," owner Aida Vallelado Molina said. "I thought the puppies were maybe dirty somehow and I tried to clean them, but the color wouldn't come off and then I realized it was the color of their fur."

Unfortunately, the female pup died. The male pup is still alive, although weak.

A Labrador puppy was born green in England two years ago, but lost its hue after 10 days. The cause was reported as exposure to a substance in the placenta, according to the Huffington Post.
