BUTTE, Mont. -

Butte-Silver Bow's County fair kicked off Thursday, bringing in more than 60 4-H animals into the Civic Center.

The next two days you can see pig races, 4-H livestock shows and pie eating contests. 4-H kids brought in their rabbits, hogs and hens to show. Outside, you can find food vendors, face painting and bounce houses.

NBC Montana spoke to two 4-H kids about what raising animals the past year taught them.

"You learn how to finance, that's for sure," said 7-year 4-H member Joriann Heikkinen. "And how to budget everything and just how to be responsible, that's for sure. You've got to take care of them."

"And then you have to feed them, and raise them and you have to get them past a weight limit to get to the fair," said 2-year 4-H member Kale Anzik.

The Silver Bow County fair opens at 11 a.m. every day and goes through Saturday.
