What: Wildland Fire
Detected: July 25 - Lightning caused
Location: Approx. 2 miles west of Pioneer Scenic Byway near Shoestring Creek on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Fire - Wise River Ranger District.
Narrative: The lightning caused Shoestring Fire on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, west of the Pioneer Scenic Byway near Shoestring Creek on the Wise River Ranger District was located Friday afternoon. Firefighters are working to complete the fireline perimeter and have made excellent progress. With today's cloudy skies and lower temperatures the fire shouldn't show much activity today. All firefighters are spiked out near the fire to reduce hiking time to the fire.
Current Size: Estimated 15-20 acres Containment: 75%
Resources on Fire: There are currently 11 smokejumpers, 2- 20 person hotshot crews, 17 Beaverhead-Deerlodge firefighters 1 medium and 1 light helicopter assigned to the fire.
Today's Action: Today firefighters will continue to strenthen the fireline around the fire and mop up where appropriate.
Safety Concerns: Safety of the public and firefighters is always a primary concern. A continued warming and drying trend with variable winds will continue thru the weekend causing some concern for this fire.
Closures: There is no immediate threat to structures or closures at this time.
