MISSOULA, Mont. -

Search crews are trying to locate a man reported missing on Placid Lake Friday after his boat was found floating towards shore unattended.

According to the Missoula County Sheriff's Department, the 69-year-old is from Great Falls, and was last seen around 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, when he took his motorboat out onto the water to work on it mechanically.

Seeley Swan Search and Rescue was deployed Saturday August 24th at 11:49 a.m. and searched until dark but they were unable to locate him.

Missoula Search and Rescue, and Flathead Search and Rescue are now assisting in the effort. A dive team with sonar equipment, and a helicopter from Two Bear Aviation have also traveled down from the Flathead to join the effort.

The name of the individual has not been released at this time while family is notified of the situation.

Search officials are asking recreators to use Seeley or Salmon Lake while the search is ongoing.
