Former Governor Brian Schweitzer announced Saturday he will not run for Senator Max Baucus's open senate seat in 2014.
Schweitzer supporters have now announced a campaign to get him to change his mind.
We caught up with one supporter, Brad Dusenbery, who tells us Schweitzer is the kind of man he wants representing Montana and that’s why he’s not giving up.
He tells NBC Montana the group won't stop collecting petition signatures until Schweitzer reconsiders running.
We also asked him how he felt about rumors that Schweitzer was using dark money to run his campaign.
“Truman, Teddy Roosevelt and many other senators I've known that have been popular like this throughout their history have been supported by that kind of dark money,” said Dusenbery. “But they're actually great candidates because they speak for the people, and once they get that power they do represent the people to the best of their ability.”
