Russell Street repaving starts tomorrow, drivers advised of detours
Russell Street in Missoula is getting a face-lift this week which means delays and detours for drivers.
The city will be re-paving Russell Street between Fourth and Ronan Streets - eight full city blocks.
Mount Avenue towards 14th Street will still remain open to travelers but the city is asking residents to avoid the area if they can.
City officials tell NBC Montana the current street is beat-up, with a number of potholes and crumbling curbs and they say the new pave job will make Russell Street much less pothole prone.
The detour for southbound traffic will use Third Street to Johnson Street to 14th Street; the northbound detour will use Longstaff Street to Knowles Street to Ronan Street.
Rumble stripping will also be added to provide extra safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.
Paving will start Monday September 30 and go through Thursday October 3.
