1964: According to one popularly accepted historical account, buffalo wings were created on this date at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York. Making a late night snack for her son and his friends, owner Teressa Bellissimo supposedly took some of the leftover chicken wings from the kitchen, fried them up, coated them with a spicy sauce, and served them with a side of celery and bleu cheese dressing.
