1976: The sitcom "Alice" premieres. The show starred Linda Lavin in the title role, a widow who moves with her young son to start her life over and finds a job working at a diner in Arizona. It would end up running for nine seasons, finishing in the top 10 in the ratings four of those years, before ending in March 1985.
