BUTTE, Mont. -

Butte's second oldest business will sell to a new owner outside the family.

Miller's Shoes has been in business for 97 years, and started when two brothers decided to open a shoe repair store after surviving the Granite Mountain Mine Disaster.

From then the business was handed down through the family line. Right now, the McElroys and Ringsaks own the business, but they plan to sell it to a local.

Dan McElroy said he he's been thinking about selling it for over a year now.

"It's sort of a sad sweet," McElroy said. "You know I'm looking forward to having to do the things I haven't been able to do, working six days a week ties you down, but I'm going to miss the people."

McElroy said he believes the new owner will provide similar products, quality and service that Miller's Shoes is known for.
