MISSOULA, Mont. -

On Monday night the Missoula City Council gave a unanimous approval for the creation of a new microbrewery on Missoula’s south side. The Great Bern Brewing Company is planned for a location on McDonald Avenue.

A full taproom staff will be needed and owners plan to hire more production workers down the line. Now the owners are working out federal and state permits, and are shooting for an opening date around the start of 2014.

Part-owner Mike Howard told NBC Montana that Missoula could use another brewery or two, and now’s a great time to start one up.

“Beer sells,” Howard added.
