KALISPELL, Mont. -

Several new businesses are opening up in Kalispell's Hutton Ranch plaza on the North end of town.

It's an area that's been a focal point of growth for years now.

“This is a place where people want to be," said Kalispell Planning Director Tom Jentz.

Unemployment has dropped to lows that haven't been seen since before the recession.

Cabela's is the most recent store to open up in Kalispell Jentz says others are looking to follow.

"We're that larger center.  So we have a trade area of about 150 thousand.  Just stop up anywhere in Kalispell and count the number of out of area license plates, Canadians in particular.  We are a regional destination for shopping," Jentz said.

A new Mackenzie River Pizza Pub, a Chick-Fil-A, and Ulta, a hair product and make-up store is expected to move into the location near Cabela's within the next year.

"We expect by the middle of January to have buildings or retail users for all of the remaining pads in our office under review," Jentz said.

According to the Montana Department of Transportation, the stretch of Highway 93 from Flathead Valley Community College down to Cabela’s is one of the top five busiest stretches of road in the state, so they should have no lack of interest in the available space.

"We have been told by the developer that all of those pads will be filled and occupied by November of next year," Jentz said.

Jentz tells us there are several other stores they are working with to bring to Kalispell.

They'll announce them, once deals are finalized.
