Montana's University System expands nondiscrimination policy
Montana's Board of Regents unanimously approved the addition of sexual orientation and gender identity to the Montana University System's nondiscrimination policy.
This policy change will affect all campuses within the University System and provide protection to staff, faculty and students.
NBC Montana caught up with Board of Regents member Jeff Krauss, who told us everyone should be protected, no matter what gender or sexual orientation.
"It's just part of who we are as Americans. Basically, standing up for individual liberty and individual rights. When you respect individual rights, then I think you respect individual rights as people regardless," said Krauss.
Krauss told us he is glad the policy changes were made official at the Board of Regents meeting on Monday.
