Montana GOP leaders tell us the event is held every odd year to select officers -- chairman, vice chairman, treasurer and secretary -- but say it's also an opportunity to rub elbows with delegates and attend workshops.

They say Obama's re-election has propelled the party.

The convention runs through Saturday at the Best Western Grantree in Bozeman.
