Missoula Police say man led officer on vehicle pursuit


MISSOULA, Mont. - Missoula police say a man, originally from Pablo, led an officer on a short pursuit outside of Downtown Missoula Saturday morning. Officers say the Missoula County Sheriff's Office took a report of a stolen vehicle at 8:25 am in the 2600 block of Mount Ave.

Officers say at roughly 8:30 am, a Missoula Police officer found the vehicle in the area of Kemp and Johnson. Officers tell NBC Montana a short pursuit occuered when the officer tried to stop the driver.  The man allegedly stopped at the dead end of the west end of Tenth Street, and ran.

Officers say the man was located about five minutes later, and arrested without further incident. According to officers, the speed of the vehicle pursuit may have reached roughly 60 mph in a 25 mph zone.

Officers have not released the man's name at this time. Authorities tell NBC Montana the man is 29 years old, and faces potential charges ranging from eluding a peace officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.
