The following is a news release from the Park County Sheriff's Department.

"On Friday, July 5, 2013 at about 0930 hours, the Park County Sheriff's Office received a tip from a hiker possibly relevant to the ongoing search for Brad Spalding.

A Sheriff's Deputy organized a team of search dogs to respond and investigate. At about 1605 hours, search dog teams located the body of a deceased adult male.

Sheriff's Office investigators and the Park County Coroner's Office responded to the scene, approximately one mile from the trailhead, well off the main trail in dense and rugged terrain.

Over the weekend, the deceased male was positively identified as Brad Spalding, who had been reported missing weeks ago.

The investigation conducted by Sheriff's Investigators and the Coroner's Office determined Mr. Spalding's death was self-inflicted.

We appreciate all the assistance from the general public, search volunteers and support agencies during this intensive search effort. We are keeping the Spalding family in our thoughts and prayers.
